How the Brief fits into the Series
The Mechanism Brief is the daily editorial product in Infera's format taxonomy. It draws from the operational layer (The Desk) and turns upcoming civic mechanisms into stories the reader can act on. It's shorter than a Special Report and faster than a Field Note. It always ends with what to do.
Briefs are organized into Volumes by thematic arc. Volume I, currently open, follows the hidden clocks: time-bound civic mechanisms affecting ordinary people in rooms nobody is watching. Each Brief is one clock. When the clock arc exhausts, Volume II opens on a different theme.
